Mark your calendar for the Inaugural Sacks of Fury Cornhole Tournament is sponsored by Country Financial and Tart Hard Cider. Teams are $50 each for a team of two people, with a total of 32 potential teams. Proceeds benefit the North Thurston Education Foundation. Food and drink (including alcohol) is available on-site at the tournament location of Charlie’s Safari in Lacey.

There is plenty of free parking in the back. All ages are eligible to compete in the Sacks of Fury Cornhole Tournament. Prizes will include a $100, $50 and $25 gift certificate to Charlie’s Safari, as well as large trophies for the First, Second and Third place winners.

WHY: Our goal is to raise $50,000 between now and August 17! Here’s what the Foundation can do with your donation:

$30 Covers the cost of an ASB card for a student.
$45 Buys a pair of shoes or a coat to keep out the cold.
$50 Provides a backpack and school supplies needed to be successful in school.
$60 Covers the athletic fee for a middle school student to participate in sports.
$87 Covers the cost of an AP Exam for a high school student.
$100 Provides athletic fee for a high school student to participate in sports.
$125 covers football.
$100 Rents an instrument for two months for a budding musician.
$250 Helps 10 children participate in music, drama, and experiences that broaden their horizons.
$500 provides a Pantry for a school.
$1,500 Provides a one-year Learning Improvement Grant to help increase student learning.
$2,000 Provides a one-year student assistance grant to an elementary school to help many students.
$3,000 Provides a one-year student assistance grant to a middle or high school to help many students.

ABOUT NORTH THURSTON EDUCATION FOUNDATION: The North Thurston Education Foundation is an independent, tax exempt non-profit volunteer organization that raises funds to eliminate financial barriers to student success among North Thurston students from low income families. In addition to the scholarship program the Foundation provides each district school with student assistance funds that can be used for student needs that can’t be met with public funds; provides financial help to the district’s more than one thousand homeless students; and makes grants to teachers for special classroom projects.
